Look at the page’s content and ask what’s most likely to appeal to your target audience. This means you must ensure your title conveys as much value as possible. Your subtitle, like your page header, is a tool for convincing your audience that they’re reading something interesting, valuable, and essential. However, ensure that you don’t simply stuff your subtitle full of keywords, as this could harm your search presence. This can be an excellent opportunity to leverage some of the keywords you want your post to rank for. Just like your page header or meta description, your subtitle should attract audience attention and provide insights into what your content is about. This is particularly true if you allow some of your subtitles to appear in the search results. One of the most significant benefits of adding subtitles to WordPress posts is they can help with your search engine optimisation strategies. You can test what your subtitles will look like with most WordPress plugins. It should naturally draw your customer’s eye down the page by creating a sense of “visual hierarchy”. Make sure the subtitle stands out and fits in well with the rest of the page structure. Essentially, it’s the second thing you want your readers to view before they scroll down to consume your content. Your subtitle should be smaller than your header on the WordPress page, but it must also be large enough to grab the audience’s attention. ![]() If your subtitle looks like an introductory paragraph, it’s time to go back to the drawing board. You could consider asking a question in your subtitle to build curiosity or use a statistic or statement to draw attention to one of the main value points in the page. The idea is to generate interest among your target audience so they’re convinced to keep reading. It’s an introduction to your article or page, but it shouldn’t give all of the information away. Here are some quick tips to get you on the right track.Ī subtitle should rarely be more than one sentence long. The key to success with WordPress subtitles is balancing good user experience with exceptional writing techniques. These are managed by “Heading tags” within the WordPress editor. Headings are the various smaller titles dotted throughout your WordPress blog or article posts, intended to help customers scan through the content. Notably, subtitles aren’t the same as “headings” in WordPress. They can also be a valuable tool for informing search engines about your post’s content. They’re designed to give your customers additional information about your post. Subtitles are essentially extra context for your WordPress posts. Enter your subtitle into the “Secondary title” content box.Open the post or page you want to edit.Make your subtitles searchable: In the “Misc settings” box for Secondary Title, you can decide whether the secondary title appears in the search results.Choose categories: Decide which types of posts you want subtitles to show for, such as blog posts, tutorials, or all WordPress posts.Set display rules: These rules will allow you to determine whether your subtitles display only when in the primary blog roll or display them for all posts. When installing your subtitle plugin, remember to: You can adjust the display in the HTML offered by the app. The default format will place the title underneath your post title, separated by a colon. After this, you’ll be able to change the appearance of your subtitle. You can choose whether to display subtitles automatically or manually here. Upon installation, go into your WordPress settings, then “Secondary Title” to the plugin settings screen. To start adding subtitles to your content, visit the WordPress plugin section, search for an app like “Secondary Title”, then hit install. This lightweight plugin allows users to add alternative titles to posts, custom post types, and pages. Various plugins are available for this purpose, but one of the most popular is “ Secondary Title “. However, the easiest option for most users is to use a plugin simply. ![]() There are manual ways to add subtitles to WordPress posts using HTML. Here’s everything you need to know about WordPress subtitle best practices. Adding subtitles or secondary titles to a WordPress post allows you to display more crucial “keywords” for search engine optimisation too. Subtitles can help to provide extra context to a post, ensuring users can make intelligent decisions about which posts or articles to read. While your content needs to be rich and engaging, it must also be formatted to allow for the best possible “user experience”. Designing the ultimate website page, whether a blog, article or a product description, isn’t just about providing people with the correct information. By making a Monte-Carlo simulation, we obtain two criterions which can be used to decide whether a DTR series is significantly multi-fractal or not. The most compelling moment in this succinct piece is the final one, which pictures a single human brain cell next to an image of the universe– and they look exactly the same. “Fractal Universe, We Are All Connected” eloquently gets the point across. In other words, if you look from a certain perspective, the idea that things are one is not figurative, it is literally true.Īnd though this is true, and I do believe it, it’s still a hard concept to wrap my head around. The atoms from the microscope, from the man looking through the microscope and from whatever was on the microscopic plate were not distinct, but blended together. The problem was that on this level, atoms flow into one another, making the scientist and the experiment he was performing indiscernible from one another. When scientists began studying quantum physics, they were observing life on the subatomic level for the first time. ![]() When I think about these ideas, I often reflect on something I heard years ago: In a mere five minutes, through a series of gorgeous images, the principles of creation are illustrated and shown to apply to everything-from a newly born sun to a single quark.Įverything that exists is demonstrated to relate to every other thing, and within each molecule, universes live, and within each universe molecules are the foundation. In this video, “Fractal Universe, We Are All Connected,” the scientific explanation of this theory is made clear and accessible. We become empathetic creatures who know that we are never alone-and that’s just the beginning. When we understand that “I am you, and you are me,” our perspective radically changes. When I went through my yoga teacher training, the idea of oneness changed my life. Yogic philosophy teaches us that all things are one-that we are all simply different parts of a single being. (A beta will come out this week, stay tuned.) However, there are still many users of TenFourFox - the update server reports about 2,000 daily checkins on average - and while nothing has ever been owed or promised I also appreciate that many people depend on it, so there will be a formal transition period. TenFourFox FPR32 will be the last official feature parity release of TenFourFox. I've been mulling TenFourFox's future for awhile now in light of certain feature needs that are far bigger than a single primary developer can reasonably embark upon, and recent unexpected changes to my employment, plus other demands on my time, have unfortunately accelerated this decision. FPR31 final comes out on or around March 22, parallel with Firefox 78.9 and 87. But for now you can experiment with the feature and let me know how functional or useful it is to you. For FPR32 I will be updating the internal Reader View to the current version of Readability.js, adding a preference pane UI similar to site-specific user agents, and maybe also adding the current Firefox feature allowing you to adjust the gutter margins wider or narrower. It also cuts out a lot of crap, meaning it's back to only the columnists annoying me in the L.A. If you decide you do want to see the article as intended, just click the Reader View icon in the address bar as usual, and the article will render in "full" form links to subpages you click on from there will go back to Reader View.Īs I've said many times, I think Reader View is an important way of making sites render faster and more usefully, especially on G3 and low-end G4 systems. Click the back button and you're back on the front page. It renders in the normal browser view, but if you click on any article, it immediately shifts to Reader View. Its article pages have a lot of irritating popup divs, so go into about:config, create a new string preference called set it to the single letter s (for subpages for all pages, use y for, um, "yes"). Since front pages may not work as well, you can specify to do this just for "subpages" or for all pages.Īn example is the Los Angeles Times, which is more or less my semi-local newspaper here in Southern California. Auto Reader View, however, allows you to tell the browser to automatically open pages from a domain in Reader View as soon as you click on any link to that domain from any page, in Reader View or not. Sticky Reader View means that when you go into Reader View, links you click on also load in Reader View, until you quit it by clicking one of the exit buttons. However, I do have a not-yet-exposed feature's plumbing done, which is another enhancement to Reader View: auto Reader View.Īuto Reader View is different from sticky Reader View, which has been the default since FPR27. I was also planning to do a Reader View update for this release, which will need a user interface of its own, but every new UI feature requires additional locale strings and I wanted to give our localizers (led by Chris) a chance to catch up on the new strings in time for the final release on March 22. If you have a user-agent add-on already installed, you can still use it, but it may have interactions if you try to use this feature at the same time and you're on your own if you do. ![]() ![]() For sites that are unspecified, obviously the global user agent option still applies. Our implementation has no penalty if you have no site-specific user agents loaded and this remains the default. As before, having site-specific user agent strings does slightly slow the browser down, though most of the penalty is paid on the first and not so much on additional strings you enter. Instead of having to enter sites and strings manually into about:config, though you still can, you can now go to the TenFourFox preference pane, This was quietly reimplemented in FPR17 for interested users, but now that it's getting more and more necessary on more and more sites, I have made the feature a visible and supported part of the browser interface. Olga T Park contributed a backport from later Firefox versions to fix saving passwords in private browsing, and I also finished fully exposing support for site specific user agents. However, there's still new stuff in this release. I didn't get everything done here that I wanted to, though thanks to Chris T I do have a reproducing local test version of the infamous issue 621 at least I am able now to see that it's clearly a problem in the JavaScript parser generating something incorrectly, but I'm still not able to tell where the specific deficiency lies. TenFourFox Feature Parity Release 31 beta 1 is now available ( downloads, hashes, release notes). Instead, the slope of the line, "gamma," was estimated in a robust way as the median ratio of the logarithms of the pixel intensities. The reason is that neither of the two patches should be favored as the "independent variable", but rather the two should be treated in a symmetrical fashion. By fitting a line appropriately to this scatterplot, we can recover a good estimate of the amount of correction to make in order to match the two sides.Īlthough many people would reflexively resort to using least squares to fit this line, that would be incorrect. This is the key idea: although there is substantial amount of scatter around a line, nevertheless a linear relationship is still apparent. The scatterplot compares lower pixels to their nearest upper counterparts on log-log axes. The clear systematic difference in the two profiles reflects the relative lightness of the lower patch. (It comprises only 232 pixels, which is relatively limited information.) The "Profiles" plots in the middle of the figure show the intensities moving across this seam, with the profile lower in the image drawn in blue and the profile higher in the image drawn in red. I extracted the rows immediately above and below the apparent seam, shown in orange at the right of the figure below. To make my work simple (the computing platform I am using, Mathematica 9, does not easily extract pixels along arbitrary polylines), I rotated it to make some of the image boundaries perfectly horizontal and then focused on one of them in the middle of the image. ![]() This can be done.Īs an example, I extracted the green band of the image. the image on the left is the same area after a histogram equalization operation. The image needs to be cut apart and re-mosaiced after adjusting the colors in each piece. Overall though, the contrast of the image is increased and the histogram is flattened out. At the same time, pixels near the end of the histogram are clustered, lowering contrast. This is a nonlinear method where pixels at the peak of the histogram are stretched, adding contrast. The third technique of spectral enhancement we used was histogram equalization. Piecewise stretch. A linear enhancement technique employed on various parts of the histogram, based off of the portion the user would like to enhance. The lowest value of the histogram is stretched to 0 and the max value of the histogram is stretched to 273 The other operation we used was a Piecewise stretch, which is more appropriate for histograms that have wider ranges of pixel brightness (none Gaussian histograms) The operations used were min/max contrast stretches, which are most appropriate for images with low contrast (Gaussian or near Gaussian histograms). In this portion of the lab students conducted various levels of spectral enhancements based of off the type of histogram that the original image had. The image on the left is the original, the image on the right is the image after the 3x3 Laplacian edge detection. The filters intent is to increase the contrast at areas where there is transition. The resulting image provided a more neutral appearance of the colors. In this case we were instructed to use a 3x3 Lablacian edge detection operation. The image on the right is the image after a 5x5 low pass operation.Īnother filter that students were asked to use was Laplacian filter. conducting the lowpass operation made the image much smother and more consistently toned. This operation was appropriate due to the high frequency of the original image, which made the image a very salt and peppery look to it. ![]() The operation conducted was a 5x5 lowpass spatial enhancement. the image on the right is the image after the 5x5 low pass operation. frequency is defined as the rate at which brightness values change over a given space. In the first part of this section, students used spatial enhancement techniques to alter the frequency of an image. Part 3: Spatial and Spectral Image enhancement The areas that are not white indicate the patches of the earth where vegetation has been removed In this part of the lab, students used the NDVI index (normalized difference vegetation index) which can be summarized as (NIR - Red bands / NIR + Red bands) in order to highlight areas of high vegetation and low vegetation. Mosaic express is a much simpler operation that only requests an input file and the name of an output file. This is because through this operation one has much more user input meaning students have more options in terms of ways the pictures can be synced into one. As you can tell by the images, mosaic pro offers a much smoother and more aesthetic image. ![]() ![]() It's like, so a ninja can't handle climbing over a ledge? The smoke bomb upgrade is awful, incapacitating the guards sets off an alarm, that's not an upgrade and made me want to strangle the nice people at Klei for a second. I really appreciate a tightly designed room space, but the way they limit you down to those choices takes me out of the immersion created by the art/sound design. Limiting the amount of items you can carry is boring, it limits creativity for interacting with the world. Most of the techniques you open up feel like stuff he should already be able to do. The other main problem with the game is the skill/item progression. Especially with how she's like "After we kill Azai we'll cleanse the clan", WTF?!, how about NO, how about that dude stops blindly doing whatever other people tell him? Was the ending the greatest? Meh, not really, but it was fitting. Overall, I couldn't find much to complain about. ![]() The free DLC content is a very nice bonus addition, as well, adding a little more backstory and forcing you to be a little more creative to dispose of enemies. I found that it's really an interesting one that gives meaning to the things you do in the game. The story was inconsequential to me at first, but eventually I found myself going back to replay old levels while paying more attention to the plot. I prefer to terrorize the guards into shooting each other or falling off the edge of a building, but a swift execution after dangling above them like Spider-Man is fun too. There is plenty of replayability and room to get creative. Different outfits and tools can be combined to sow the most terror, deal the most damage, or to simply escape from sight as quickly as possible. The gameplay is so fluid and the assassinations so satisfying that there is joy to be found in doing the most basic things. It allows for a lot of experimentation and even during a particularly difficult part of a mission, I never really got too frustrated. One of the best things about it is the freedom and confidence to do just about anything you can think to try-if you fail, you get to try again very quickly with very little fuss. It turns out a 2D stealth game can be fantastic if done right, like this game is. I typically love stealth assassination games, but I was a little hesitant about a 2D one. It turns out a I had so much fun playing this game. All of these elements change and develop over the course of a playthrough, as characters age, encounter mysteries, and overcome challenges. So, if you brighten up an image, you’re simply telling Lightroom “When you show me this photo, make it brighter,” rather than making a permanent change to the original file. That means the program makes adjustments by keeping track of the changes in a file that’s separate from the original photo. If they’re already on your computer, you can simply point the software to their location and edit them right where they are. Importing the photos can pull them off of a memory card and onto the computer. When everything is in one place, I can definitely find it, even if it takes a while. I prefer the latter solution simply because I don’t trust myself not to lose my catalog files or forget which images belong inside which catalog. Others simply create one big catalog and then organize their folders and files within it. Some users create many different catalogs. The software creates catalogs into which you can import photos (hopefully those of the raw variety). If you work with photos in high volume, Lightroom’s import interface is very handy once you get the hang of it. This is particularly handy in a studio situation where you want to see big previews of your photos in a hurry so a creative director can look over your shoulder and tell you what’s wrong with them in real-time.
